The French postcode

The postcode, which consists of 5 digits, is essential for mail delivery.It is also useful for differentiating localities with identical names. For example, there are twelve different French localities called SAINT SAUVEUR. Only the postcode can establish the corresponding department.

• all the postcodes (6 300) and cities or towns (36 600),
• all the CEDEX CODES (21 000) and CEDEX DELIVERY SERVICE INDICATORS,
• all the 5 digit INSEE codes (official locality number), the 2 500 main named places.
• the 2 000 main named places (former communes ...)

Introduced into a data entry or address processing software, the HEXAPOSTE database enables you to check, correct or complete postcodes and CEDEX codes.
