What type of mail can you send?
You may send:
You can send any type of correspondence authorised by the Universal Postal Union Convention (article 8)
- Any type of customised mail: letters, bank statements, invoices, etc.
- Any type of non-customised printed matter: magazines, direct mail, catalogues, press, brochures, etc.
- Enclosed items like CD-ROMs, compact discs, audio cassettes/tapes which are included on the front of a magazine. These items should not have any commercial value.
You may not send:
- Correspondence from a sender who resides in the destination country
(Article 25, UPU Convention)
- Correspondence containing any kind of valuables:
coins, banknotes, cheques, travellers cheques, precious metals, precious stones (Article 26, UPU Convention)
- Correspondence containing:
- narcotics and/or mind-altering substances
- explosive substances, flammable and/or hazardous materials
- items or printed matter for which import and circulation are forbidden in the destination country (request information directly from the destination country)
- obscene or immoral items or printed matter (request information directly from the destination country)
- animals or live insects
- items a commercial value
- items liable to VAT or customs duties
- items with particular and/or dangerous characteristics.
