General terms and conditions for use of the services of La Poste, the international mail solution

Each term beginning with a capital letter has the sense of the definition given it in this article. The term “Conditions for Use” designates this document.

"Particular Conditions" designates the terms and conditions of use that are peculiar to certain individual services. "Services" designates all online services to Users provided by La Poste - International mail activities and accessible though the portal www.laposte.fr/internationalsales.

 "User” designates any individual using one or several Services.

This document provides the Conditions for Use of Services. Its purpose is to define for Users the terms and conditions for use of Services. It is specified that the use of Services is subject to respect of these Conditions for Use, as provided in the Article that follows.

3.1 Rank order of conditions

La Poste - International mail activities provides the Services in accordance with these Conditions for Use. Certain Services may have their own conditions for use (Particular Conditions) that are in addition to the general Conditions for Use.

Particular Conditions are an integral part of Conditions for Use. If the terms, conditions and comments in the Conditions for Use contradict the Particular Conditions, the Conditions for Use shall prevail.

3.2 Acceptance

La Poste - International mail activities provides you with these Services on condition that you undertake to respect Conditions for Use. We advise you to refer to the latest version of the Conditions for Use on a regular basis.

In any case, you are considered to have accepted the Conditions for Use by the simple fact of using our Services. All use of our Services implies acceptance of the latest version of the Conditions for Use.

3.3 Modification

La Poste - International mail activities may modify the Conditions for Use at any time. In this case, the modified Conditions for Use come into effect when they are put online. We recommend that Users read the Conditions for Use regularly. A User is considered to have accepted the latest version each time he/she connects with Services.

In order to use certain Services, you need to fill out an enrollment form and supply personal data. You are committed to provide exact, complete and current data. Should the data you provide be inexact, incomplete or obsolete, La Poste  - International mail activities will take whatever measures it considers necessary to suspend your access to the service concerned, either definitively or temporarily.

La Poste - International mail activities may ask the User for certain personal data. This data is intended to permit La Poste - International mail activities or any third party or partner directly involved in the use of the site, to use the Services or to respond to your requests or questions. The company undertakes to keep such information confidential.

Information that is indispensable for subscription to certain Services or to handle requests is marked with an asterisk in the site pages. Other information requested, for which answers are optional, is for the purpose of knowing you better and improving the services we offer.

La Poste - International mail activities is committed to implement the technical and organizational measures needed to protect personal data against accidental or illicit destruction, accidental loss, alteration, dissemination or unauthorized access. La Poste - International mail activities will not retain personal data for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which they were collected or processed.
La Poste - International mail activities may be required to divulge any information concerning you in order to comply with any laws or regulations in effect, or to respond to any requests of the courts or administrative authorities.

La Poste - International mail activities reserves the right to use cookies in order to provide the best possible management of Services, facilitate your web search through our Services and develop statistics. If you wish, you can refuse cookies by modifying the parameters of your browser, in most cases using the "preferences" menu.

You need to use an identifier and password of your choice to access the “My account” service.

Your password is personal and confidential. You commit to not divulging it to a third party in any form or for any reason, and to inform La Poste - International mail activities immediately of any use by an unauthorized person and of any security risk that may result from it. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for any use that may be made of it.

La Poste - International mail activities reserves the right to modify all or part of the Services, or to interrupt them temporarily or permanently, without prior notification to the User.

Most Services are accessible through the Internet, or by other means of communication for certain of them. The costs of connection to the Services are payable by the User.

When the User is a minor, he/she needs to declare having received authorisation to use the Services from his parent(s) or guardian(s) and that they have agreed to guarantee the minor User’s respect for the Conditions for Use. All use of Services by a minor is made under the full responsibility of the parent(s) or guardian(s) of the concerned User.

You are committed to use the Services in accordance with national and international regulations, and in particular not to use them to display, download, send or transmit any content: that is violent, likely to affront human dignity and self-respect or the principle of equality between men and women, or violates the welfare of children and adolescents, particularly in the production, transportation or dissemination of messages that are violent or pornographic or offend human dignity; that encourages committing crimes; that encourages the use of illicit substances;  that provokes or could provoke discrimination, hatred or violence on the basis of race, ethnic or national origin; that is illegal, harmful, dangerous, abusive, harassing, defamatory, injurious, vulgar, obscene, threatens the private life of others or could offend the sensitivities; that is offensive to certain persons' sensibilities; that causes other Users to err because of the misuse of the name or company name of others; that interferes with the rights of third parties to secrets of production, professional secrets, confidential information, trademarks, patents and intellectual and industrial property in general or any other rights to protected information, etc. (list not exhaustive); that contains computer viruses or other codes or programs intended to interrupt, destroy or limit the operation of any software, computer or telecommunications equipment.

You commit yourself:

• to consult the Conditions for Use on a regular basis and respect them;
• not to collect or store personal data on other Users;
• not to harass any other User or Users in any manner;
• not to impede or perturb the operation of the Services.

Access to Services will be automatically blocked in case of breach of these Conditions for Use, without prejudice to any legal action that may be undertaken by La Poste - International mail activities or any claims for damages.

The Services may contain links to sites of partners of La Poste - International mail activities or other third parties. La Poste - International mail activities has no control of these sites and therefore takes no responsibility for their availability, content, advertising, products or services obtainable on or through these sites.

All commercial relationships that you may maintain with partners of La Poste  - International mail activities or advertisers present in the Services are to be handled directly with these parties, without any involvement of La Poste - International mail activities.  Hence, La Poste  - International mail activities cannot be considered responsible for any damage to the User that may result from relations with La Poste - International mail activities' partners or advertisers.

The content, including texts, software, audio documents, photographs or drawings that appear or are available on the Services, is protected by intellectual property law and is the exclusive property of La Poste - International mail activities or its partners. You are therefore committed not to use, reproduce, represent, disseminate, adapt or borrow, etc. (list not exhaustive) the content of Services protected by intellectual property law without the express authorization of La Poste  - International mail activities and/or its partners.

Trademarks that appear on the Services are protected by La Poste and/or its partners. Any reproduction or use of said trademarks without the express authorization of La Poste and/or its partners is strictly prohibited.

You are committed to guarantee La Postea - International mail activities gainst any legal pursuits or complaints filed against it by third parties that result from your use, or use through your identifier and password, of Services under conditions that are not in conformity with the Conditions for Use. This guarantee covers any reasonable amount that La Poste - International mail activities may be required to pay in this context and, for whatever purpose, including attorney's fees and recognised or assigned court costs. There is no guarantee of any kind pertaining to use of the Services. La Poste - International mail activities gives no express or implicit guarantee for said use of Services by the User, particularly as concerns availability and the appropriateness, timeliness and reliability of the Services and their content.

By the same token, La Poste does not guarantee that the content and service the User obtains from the Services will meet the latter's expectations or that the content and service provided are in conformity with the regulations and laws applying to third parties.

You are responsible for the use of your identifier and password. You will be considered as having effected all data transmission and connections to the Services that are made using your identifier and password. This condition remains applicable even in the case that you pre-register your identifier and password on your personal computer and hence permit automatic connection to the Services. The User states that he/she accepts the characteristics and limits of the Internet and in particular acknowledges awareness of the nature of the Internet network and its technical capacities.


La Poste  - International mail activities has no responsibility for any reason in case of modification, suspension or interruption, etc. (non-exhaustive list) of the Services.


La Poste  - International mail activities can in no way be held responsible for the reliability of data transmission, for access time, or for any restrictions on access to the Internet or other networks connected to it. Nor can La Poste - International mail activities be held responsible in case of any interruption in networks providing access to the Services, for total or partial unavailability of the Services due to the telecommunications operator, for errors in transmission, for problems of security of transmission, for failures in receiving equipment or in your telephone line.


La Poste  - International mail activities may interrupt its Services for purposes of maintenance. This interruption will be made known by means of a notice on the homepage, or by means of another procedure. La Poste - International mail activities is in no way responsible for such an interruption and is not liable for any compensation.


La Poste - International mail activities is in no way responsible for indirect damages or for any commercial, moral or financial losses, including any loss of earnings, due to, based on or originating with the use of Services or their content, or for any direct or indirect damage to the data processing equipment of a participant or to the data stored in said equipment that results from connection to the site, nor for the consequences that this may have for the participant’s personal, professional or commercial business.


It is your responsibility to take all measures necessary to protect your own data and/or software stored in your data processing equipment against all damages. Connection to the site and use of the Services is your sole responsibility.

La Poste  - International mail activities has no responsibility for the use of the Services or their content. All of the rates provided on the site are indicative. It is your responsibility to verify the cost of your mailing on the day that it is handed over to your post office.


The content and services provided by partners of La Poste  - International mail activities through the Services are the exclusive responsibility of said partners. Hence, La Poste  - International mail activities is in no way responsible for direct or indirect damages that occur in the course of the User's access to the Services or use of the Services, or are due to the failure of the Services or their content to respect regulations or violate the rights of third parties.


You are solely responsible for all content (texts, images, audio, etc.) that you communicate to any third parties by means of one of the Services, whether transmitted in a public or private framework.  Hence, La Poste - International mail activities cannot be held responsible for content communicated by Users via the Services.

If any of the above clauses is held to be null and void, it will be considered as not to have been written and will not invalidate the other clauses. The failure of La Poste - International mail activities to exercise any of the rights derived from these Conditions for Use does not constitute a renunciation of said rights.

An effort will first be made to resolve by amicable arrangement any litigation arising from the interpretation or execution of these Conditions for Use. Failing this, the litigation will be subject to French law and be brought before the competent court within the jurisdiction of the Paris Court of Appeals (cour d'appel).
