Information used for shipping mail to the correct country (1) is clearly delineated from information used for its delivery (2).
It is important to comply:
  • with postal standards in the country of origin for the presentation of the destination country (1) ;
  • with postal standards in the destination country for the remainder of the address (2).

Our recommendations:

- For outgoing international items, the name of the country of destination must always be printed:

  • on the last line of the address ;
  • in capital letters ;
  • the name of the country of destination is written in one of the languages used in the country of origin. If this language is not internationally recognised, and to avoid any difficulty in the countries of transit, the name of the country of destination should be included in an internationally recognised language.

- The address should be worded in a precise and complete manner.

- The address should be written legibly in Roman characters and Arabic numerals. If other systems are used in the country of destination, the address should also be written in these characters and numerals.

- The city and country of destination are written in capital letters together with the correct postcode or delivery zone number, if any.
